as time goes , there are more and more world problems about nature and development. i think deforestation is the most serious environmental problem that the earth has to face.
with more and more trees cut down, many kinds of birds or animals have no homes and become etinct. just a few years later, we will no longer be able to see so many lovely and beautiful creatures which once eist.
with more and more trees cut down, lots of good land become deserts. then the soil will be washed away more easily ,which will eventually lead to floods and draughts .remember the big flood that broke out in 1998? many people become homeless and i will never forget the sad and eager eyes of hundreds of children .but what we should realize is that it is we human beings that has strengthened the power of the flood, for we’ve cut down so many trees near the changjiang river. the disaster is just a response from nature, as well as a great pain to us.
with more and more trees cut down, the power of the surface of the earth to control the climate is being reduced greatly. the earth's surface temperature is rising little by little and finally cities along the seaside will be greatly affected.
in fact, desertification, global warming and other big problems are all the results of deforestation.
but many of us have not yet been clear enough about the importance of the problem .you may tell me that you yourself are quite aware of it. but do you still use the only-once chopsticks? and always think the paper handkerchiefs are not enough?
so there's a lot we have to change actually.
if you don't want to endanger the net generations and don't want to see an end to our planet, please take action!

摘要:本研究考察了高中學(xué)生英語作文中人稱、指示和比較三種指稱銜接手段的使用情況。研究發(fā)現(xiàn)高中生英語作文中以上三種指稱銜接在使用上存在很多問題及錯誤。本文詳細(xì)分析了高中生英語作文中指稱銜接不恰當(dāng)使用的原因,并由此針對改善高中寫作教學(xué)、提高學(xué)生寫作質(zhì)量提出了建議。

一、引言
Halliday和Hasan(1976)認(rèn)為,銜接是關(guān)系到語篇連貫的一個必要條件。本文在Halliday與Hasan的銜接理論以及對銜接手段分類的基礎(chǔ)上,對高中生英語作文中指稱銜接的使用情況進(jìn)行了分析,同時(shí)深入探討了導(dǎo)致學(xué)生指稱銜接不恰當(dāng)使用的原因,旨在幫助學(xué)生加強(qiáng)銜接手段使用的意識。同時(shí),也有利于促進(jìn)高中生的英語寫作教學(xué),提高學(xué)生的寫作質(zhì)量。
二、理論基礎(chǔ)
Halliday和Hasan將指稱銜接分為人稱指稱、指示指稱和比較指稱這三類,本文將基于此分類方法進(jìn)行研究。
一)人稱指稱
人稱指稱是運(yùn)用話語情景中的功能、通過人稱類別表現(xiàn)的指稱。人稱代詞、所有格形容詞和所有格代詞均包含在人稱指稱的范疇之內(nèi)。
二)指示指稱
指示指稱基本上是一種用詞語指示的形式。指示指稱主要包括副詞指示代詞以及名詞性指示代詞以及定冠詞the。
三)比較指稱
比較指稱可以分為一般比較和特殊比較兩大類。一般比較僅指相似和不相似方面的比較,即比較雙方可以是相同、相似或不同。特殊比較指的是量或質(zhì)方面的比較。量一般指數(shù)量,質(zhì)的比較也由比較級形容詞和副詞表示。
三、研究方法
一)研究問題
本研究主要分析高中生英語作文中指稱銜接在使用上存在的問題,同時(shí)探討其原因,旨在給高中英語寫作教學(xué)提供一些參考。
二)研究對象及語料搜集
本次研究以煙臺一中高二學(xué)生為研究對象,要求學(xué)生完成一篇120字左右的英語議論文,題目為“Gap Year”,從學(xué)生完成的有效作文中隨機(jī)抽取了60份。分析了學(xué)生英語作文中各類指稱銜接使用存在的問題,并深入探索其原因。
三)統(tǒng)計(jì)分析方法
按照指稱銜接的以上分類,分別統(tǒng)計(jì)學(xué)生每一篇作文中人稱指稱、指示指稱和比較指稱的數(shù)目。同時(shí),辨認(rèn)出樣本作文中以上三類銜接的使用錯誤,并且統(tǒng)計(jì)出各自數(shù)目,深入探討造成這些銜接錯誤的原因。
四、研究結(jié)果與討論
一)指稱銜接分布情況分析
表4.1表明了抽取的60份高二學(xué)生樣本作文中這三類指稱銜接及其錯誤的分布情況。從表中統(tǒng)計(jì)數(shù)據(jù)可以看出,在各類指稱銜接中,人稱指稱使用的最為頻繁,次數(shù)達(dá)到了471次,比例為58.36%;指示指稱次之,次數(shù)為264次,比例為32.84%;比較指稱的使用頻率要遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)低于前兩者,樣本作文中比較指稱的使用次數(shù)只有72次,比例僅為8.92%。
從表中可以看出,樣本作文中人稱指稱的使用次數(shù)要遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)超出指示指稱和比較指稱的使用次數(shù)。此現(xiàn)象可以從以下幾個方面來進(jìn)行分析。第一,這篇文章是說明文和議論文的結(jié)合,所以很多時(shí)候需要學(xué)生對gap year進(jìn)行描述并且就學(xué)生是否進(jìn)行 gap year發(fā)表觀點(diǎn)。所以學(xué)生在寫作時(shí)大量地使用了人稱指稱去描述這一現(xiàn)象或者發(fā)表自己的觀點(diǎn),因此在樣本作文中人稱指稱使用頻率很高。第二,由于文章題材的關(guān)系以及文章內(nèi)容的限制,所以學(xué)生在寫作時(shí)較少地使用了表示相同、相似、不同、表示比較以及表示數(shù)量的比較指稱。
二)指稱錯誤及其原因分析
通過表4.1的統(tǒng)計(jì)數(shù)據(jù)可以看出,學(xué)生在指稱銜接的使用上存在很多錯誤。通過分析樣本作文發(fā)現(xiàn),學(xué)生在寫作中所犯的指稱錯誤具體表現(xiàn)為以下四類:
1. 人稱代詞不連續(xù)、切換頻繁
學(xué)生經(jīng)常會潛意識地把單數(shù)指稱代詞切換到復(fù)數(shù)指稱代詞,把第一人稱代詞切換到第二人稱代詞。這種不連續(xù)的、前后不一致的人稱代詞會讓讀者感到混淆。
例1:Taking a gap year is popular with American students, it offers students some opportunities to earn money, and they can help us get more social experience.
這種人稱代詞不連續(xù)的現(xiàn)象的產(chǎn)生可能是由于寫作時(shí)學(xué)生情緒比較緊張,或者是由于學(xué)生比較粗心而造成的。如果學(xué)生能夠仔細(xì)檢查他們的作文,這些人稱代詞的錯誤大部分都是可以被發(fā)現(xiàn)并且改正的`;
另一方面,學(xué)生母語的影響也使得學(xué)生頻繁切換人稱代詞,因?yàn)閷懽鲿r(shí)他們可能是在逐字地把腦海中的中文翻譯成英文。
例2:I believe that all of you will benefit a lot from taking a gap year.
2. 定冠詞the的過度使用
在指示指稱部分,樣本作文中出現(xiàn)的最多的指示指稱項(xiàng)目就是定冠詞the。朱葉秋(20xx)發(fā)現(xiàn),中國學(xué)生在三類冠詞的使用中都會出現(xiàn)不同的錯誤,包括定冠詞的過度使用。周保國(20xx)則認(rèn)為,低水平英語學(xué)習(xí)者定冠詞誤用要多于高水平英語學(xué)習(xí)者。
例3:Thegap year is very usual in western countries for the senior high students.
例4:Today, Id like to introduce an interesting cultural phenomenon called the Gap Year.
在這兩個例句中,定冠詞 the都屬于過度使用,可以刪掉。
林佳嫣(20xx)研究認(rèn)為,學(xué)習(xí)者可能會出于交際目的過度使用定冠詞來指稱首次出現(xiàn)的名詞,如使用定冠詞為了強(qiáng)調(diào)某種情感,或是引出某個話題。
例5:In western countries, some students choose to have a gap year between the graduation of high school and the entrance to college.
此句中,學(xué)生在graduation of high school和entrance to college前面都誤加了定冠詞the,可能是因?yàn)樵撋J(rèn)為高中畢業(yè)和進(jìn)入大學(xué)都是非常重要的事。
3. 名詞性指稱項(xiàng)目很少使用
此外,學(xué)生很少在作文中使用名詞性指稱項(xiàng)目this和that及其附屬形式these和those。鑒于this和that在漢語中沒有進(jìn)行嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)?shù)貐^(qū)分,很多高中學(xué)生沒有準(zhǔn)確掌握this和that的用法,而選擇不去使用它們。黃燦和羅輝(20xx)認(rèn)為,學(xué)生喜歡使用定冠詞the來替代this和that,這是因?yàn)槎ü谠~the同樣可以用來充當(dāng)指示指稱,學(xué)生在寫作時(shí)使用the可以不用費(fèi)力來推敲某個地方到底該用this還是該用that。這些錯誤基本上是受母語影響造成。
例6:In the western countries, some students can relax for a whole year without going to school after high school graduation.
例7:Besides, the measure lets them be their own masters and leads to a meaningful life.
4. 比較指稱使用單一
研究發(fā)現(xiàn),高中生在寫作中不太喜歡用比較指稱,而且比較指稱的使用也比較單一。由于高中生英語水平的限制,他們對于要求相對較高的比較指稱詞匯運(yùn)用還不夠自如,為了避免錯誤,他們會有意識地避開此類單詞的使用。即使寫作過程中需要用到此類詞匯時(shí),他們也會選擇相對比較簡單的一些詞匯來表達(dá)自己的觀點(diǎn)。
就一般比較指稱而言,學(xué)生在樣本作文中使用的較多的一般比較指稱就是單詞different,用來形容參加間隔年的學(xué)生可以參加的不同活動或者獲得的不同體驗(yàn)。
例8:Traveling to different places also contributes to improving their communication skills and make them more confident to talk with people.
而在特殊比較指稱方面,學(xué)生在作文中頻繁地使用了單詞more,用來進(jìn)行數(shù)量和性質(zhì)上的比較。
例9:During this gap year, some students work as volunteers to know more about the society and gain more experience for their future life.
此外,學(xué)生在樣本作文中還大量地使用了more and more這一搭配,這也是造成樣本作文中特殊指稱項(xiàng)目“more”大量使用的原因。
例10:Nowadays, confronted with more and more challenges in society, many students choose to spend an extra year experiencing life instead of coming into the university immediately.
五、結(jié)論
通過以上分析可以看出,高中學(xué)生英語作文中指稱銜接的使用上存在很多問題,這些指稱銜接的不當(dāng)使用主要可以歸納為學(xué)生母語負(fù)遷移的影響,學(xué)生在寫作時(shí)缺乏銜接意識和語篇意識以及英語教師在寫作教學(xué)中過多地強(qiáng)調(diào)語法和句型,脫離語境進(jìn)行寫作教學(xué)。因此,英語教師在教學(xué)中應(yīng)該盡力幫助學(xué)生克服母語負(fù)遷移帶來的影響,在寫作教學(xué)中有效地引入銜接理論,在平時(shí)的英語教學(xué)中有意識地培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的銜接意識和語篇意識,提高英語寫作教學(xué)的效果,改善學(xué)生的英語寫作質(zhì)量。

it was during a weekend. mum gave me two tickets for a film and told me she was too busy with the endless housework to go with me . she told me to keep the money if i could sell the etra ticket. i was very happy, of course . at that time , a ticket only cost 20 fen . but to me, a little girl of 12,20 fen seemed quite a lot.
i reached the cinema in a great hurry. holding the ticket in my hand, i began to look for a buyer. a handsome young man noticed me and the ticket in my hand. he came towards me with a big smile, “you've got an etra ticket?”
“yes,”i nodded .
“that's great . say , how much?”
“twenty fen.”
“ oh ,”he thought for a while and then took out a ten-yuan note from his wallet.
“i'm very sorry, but i've only got this note.” seeing i was confused① , he added, “then, how about waiting for a while and i'll give you the money after i have changed it in the cinema's store?”
without much thinking, i agreed. then we went to the cinema together. he walked fast. i could hardly keep up with him. by and by, he left me further and further behind. soon he disappeared in the gents②. i stood there without knowing what to do. suddenly i seemed to realize the handsome young fellow had cheated me. he had saved twenty fen, but lost his honour.
