　　泰戈?duì)柕哪赣H去世時(shí)，這位印度詩人還非常年輕。1922年，當(dāng)他創(chuàng)作這首詩時(shí)，泰戈?duì)栆呀?jīng)61歲了。一位花甲老人回憶自己的母親，沒有音容笑貌這樣具體的畫面記憶，留下的反而是歌聲、氣味、母親的目光和愛意。

　　I cannot remember my mother

　　only sometimes in the midst of my play

　　a tune seems to hover over my playthings,

　　the tune of some song that she used to

　　hum while rocking my cradle.
