一、give up doing sth. 停止做某事

【考點說明】 句中doing something為動名詞短語作賓語。如：

You should give up smoking because it is harmful to your health.

你應該戒煙，它對你的身體有害。

Has she given up drinking?

她戒酒了嗎？

【知識串聯(lián)】 同義短語stop doing sth.， 如：

The teacher asked the students to stop talking.

老師讓學生停止講話。

二、so ... that ... 如此......以致......

【考點說明】that引導結果狀語從句，so后面應接形容詞或副詞原級。如：

She is so clever that I admire her very much.

她如此聰明，讓我很羨慕。

He ran so fast that I couldn't catch up with him.

他跑得如此之快以致于我趕不上他。

【知識串聯(lián)】 such ... that ... 如此......以致......，that也引導結果狀語從句，such用來修飾名詞。如：

It is such a beautiful flower that I like it very much.

這是一朵如此美麗的花以致于我很喜歡它。

It was such fine weather that we decided to go skating.

天氣真好，我們決定去溜冰。

三、too ... to ... 太......而不能......

【考點說明】該句型引導結果狀語，too與to中間應接形容詞、副詞原級，含有否定意味。如：

At the sight of the dog, she was too frightened to move.

一看見這條狗，她嚇得不敢動了。

【知識串聯(lián)】該句型可轉換成be not ... enough to ... 或so ... that ... 句型的否定式。如：

He is too young to go to school. = He is so young that he can't go to school.= He isn't old enough to go to school.

他太小了，不能去上學。

四、think a lot / much of 對......評價高，看重

【考點說明】 該句型為對某人/物的良好評價用語，of后面接名詞、代詞、動名詞等。如：

He thinks a lot / much of her progress in English study.

他對她在英語學習上所取得的進步評價很高。

She thinks a lot / much of his invention.

她很看重他的發(fā)明。

【知識串聯(lián)】 think of考慮，想起。如：

She thinks more of her students than of herself.

她關心學生勝過關心自己。

I can't think of his name at the moment.

我一時想不起他的名字。
