(一) invite

invite 是動(dòng)詞"邀請(qǐng),招待"的意思。它的用法很簡(jiǎn)單,請(qǐng)大家記住它的兩個(gè)句型,多加運(yùn)用就可熟練掌握了。

⑴ invite sb. to do sth. (這個(gè)句型中的to是不定式符號(hào))

He invited me to have dinner with his family. 他邀請(qǐng)我與他的家人共進(jìn)晚餐。

⑵ invite sb. to + n. (這個(gè)句型中的to是介詞)

Thanks a lot for inviting me to the party. 非常感謝您邀請(qǐng)我參加這次聚會(huì)。

(二) start

start可作動(dòng)詞,譯為:"啟程,動(dòng)身,著手,開(kāi)始"。

作"著手,開(kāi)始"講時(shí),start 的用法與begin相同。"開(kāi)始做某事"既可表達(dá)為:start to do sth.又可表達(dá)為:start doing sth.

比如:"他開(kāi)始寫起來(lái)"有兩種表達(dá)方法:

He started to write. 或He started writing.

start還可作名詞,漢語(yǔ)意思與動(dòng)詞相同。

特別贈(zèng)送:⑴from start to finish 從頭到尾,自始至終

⑵ get off to a good start 成功的開(kāi)始,有良好的開(kāi)端

(三) stop

stop既可作動(dòng)詞,又可作名詞。

作動(dòng)詞時(shí),譯為:"停止,中斷"。

比如:①The snow has stopped. 雪已停了。(作不及物動(dòng)詞)

②He stopped the car and waited. 他把車停下來(lái)并等待著。(作及物動(dòng)詞)

重點(diǎn)句型:①stop doing sth. 停止做某事(指完全停止,不再去做)

Tony stopped talking and listened to the teacher carefully. 托尼停止了講話,認(rèn)真聽(tīng)老師講課。

②stop to do sth. 停止,做某事(指停止做某件事,而去做另外一件事)

Tony stopped to listen to the teacher carefully. 托尼停下來(lái),認(rèn)真去聽(tīng)老師講課。

作動(dòng)詞時(shí),還可譯為"阻止"

句型:stop sb. (from) doing sth. 阻止某人做某事

如:She tried to stop the baby (from) crying. 她盡力不讓這個(gè)嬰兒哭鬧。

stop 還可作名詞,以下有三個(gè)含有 stop的常用語(yǔ),我們一起來(lái)分享:

come to a stop 停止,終止

stop up 熬夜,晚睡覺(jué)

stop-watch 秒表,跑表

(四) wonder

wonder作動(dòng)詞用,譯為"想知道,對(duì)......表示懷疑"

We wonder what happened to him. 我們想知道他究竟發(fā)生了什么事。

wonder作名詞用,譯為:a.驚訝,驚嘆 b.奇跡,奇觀

比如:①She looked around in wonder. 她驚訝地四下環(huán)顧。

②The Great Wall is one of the Seven Wonders of the world.

長(zhǎng)城是世界七大奇跡之一。

(五) wait

wait 為動(dòng)詞,譯為"等待,等候"

① wait for sb. 等待某人

He waited for Jenny last night, but she didn't come. 他昨晚等珍妮了,但她沒(méi)有來(lái)。

②wait to do sth. 等著去做某事

They are waiting to see you. 他們正等著見(jiàn)你。

③ wait for sb.∕sth. to do sth. 等著某人或某物去做某事

My mother is waiting for me to have lunch. 我媽媽正等著我吃午飯。

We are waiting for the song to stop. 我們正等著歌曲停下來(lái)。

額外贈(zèng)送:

① can't wait to do sth. 迫不及待地去做某事

I can't wait to open the box. 我迫不及待地把盒子打開(kāi)。

② wait and see 等著瞧,觀望

There is nothing to do now. We will just have to wait and see. 現(xiàn)在什么也干不了。我們只有等等看。

(六) keep

keep 在我們課本中是動(dòng)詞,漢語(yǔ)意思為"阻止,保留"。比如:

① You are half an hour late, what kept you? 你晚了半小時(shí),是什么使你耽擱了?

② I will keep the letters in my book. 我將把這些信夾在我的書里保留。

另外,作動(dòng)詞用時(shí),keep 還有三個(gè)常用的意思:

① 保持,繼續(xù)

keep doing sth. 一直不斷地做某事

She kept crying this morning. What's wrong with her? 今天上午她一直都在哭。她怎么了?

② 飼養(yǎng)(動(dòng)物)

My uncle keeps cows on the farm. 我叔叔在農(nóng)場(chǎng)飼養(yǎng)奶牛。

③ 記(日記)

Mary keeps a diary. 瑪麗每天都寫日記。
